From Fort Davis, we did a quick stop at the McDonald Observatory on another scenic high desert drive. The Guadalupe Mountains National Park is pretty remote and undeveloped and beautiful, of course. There is not a road through the park. Only 40 some miles on to Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Another awesome national park. We did the self-guided tours and the ranger guided tour. Very impressive.

Comments from Eldon: Carlsbad Caverns was more majestic than I expected. More mammoth than Mammoth Cave in Kentucky.

Comments from Harry: The roads have too many curves. Napping is tough at times. I think I saw a little prairie dog the other day. We were eye to eye when his head came out of the hole.

Update on 2014 - We spent the winter in FL, mainly in Sarasota, but took the camper to the keys and Key West. In August and  September, we took a circle tour of Lake Superior for 3 weeks. A beautiful, scenic trip. That is our traveling year in a nutshell.

On January 3, 2015 we left St. Ignace. Three hours from home we had an accident. A young girl, I should say a young, UNINSURED, girl was driving too fast on the snowy road and hit us. Eldon was able to keep the truck in our lane but we both expected more vehicles to hit us. The scooter is totaled. The truck has a dent in the passenger door and a small dent in the hood where the scooter hit it. I will skip all the insurance details. We spent 3 nights with Brenda and Tom in Bryan, OH. We then proceeded south in totally freezing weather. We are now in Texas but it is still cold and rainy. We are near Galveston - I took my first beach walk today - in fleece, down vest and mittens.
