Big Bend National Park
In the top photo, Mexico is on the far side. Mexicans leave their burros by the Rio Grande and row across to sell their souvenirs. They chat with each other across the river. The second photo is "The Window". The third is Santa Elena Canyon. Big Bend is another wonderful national park (its as big as Rhode Island). The west side of Texas is desert, mountains, and canyons. We are totally enjoying the scenery. We spent an enjoyable week on South Padre Island earlier in the month. That was the first time we had decent weather. Things have perked up for us - not much traffic here and a slower pace of life - everyone is very friendly - just what we like! I cannot get used to the 75 mile and hour speed limit on 2 lane roads.
Comments from Eldon: The trip has become more memorable since hitting Marathon, Texas. The pace slowed, people got friendlier, and the sky got bigger. The country is very beautiful near the Rio Grande - never saw anything like it. Just beautiful
Comments from Harry: I don't like thorns in my paw and I don't like trains. Other than that I'm having a great time.
